One of the most beautiful and peaceful places in the Shropshire Hills!
If you are looking for somewhere in the countryside that is quiet, has beautiful views, and is cosy and comfortable, you have found the right place.
See View Cabin is situated in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is 1200 feet above sea level, Southeast facing, and looks across a wooded valley towards the Stiperstones ridge.
Construction of the cabin was completed in 2024 (replacing a earlier structure) and it comprises one double bedroom, one single bedroom, shower room, lounge with kitchen area, and sun room. The accommodation is spread across two floors. Being on a hillside means that the entrance to the cabin is across a small bridge into the upper floor lounge with its balcony and views across the valley. The bedrooms, shower room and sun room are all downstairs.
The cabin is constructed to a high standard with high levels of insulation and effective heating making it suitable for year round use. However please note that access to the cabin is via external steps, requiring users to be fully mobile. The cabin is also next to a small quarry. Visitors need to take care and not approach the quarry edges.
The parking area slopes so guests are requested to leave parked cars in gear, with the front wheels turned into the slope.

Using Sat Nav: Our post code, SY5 0HG is quite large! Using sat nav will take you to the centre of the post code, where you should see an old pump, a letter box, and a signpost to Brockton and Bromlow pointing up a small lane. Go up this lane to a crossroads and turn right. Our house, ‘Hove To’ is on the right and immediately after this is the gateway to the parking area for See View Cabin. Looking through this gateway (see picture below) you will see the top of the cabin from the road. Open the gate and drive through to the parking area.
From Shrewsbury direction: From the A5 Shrewsbury by-pass take the A488 sign posted Bishops Castle. Go through the villages of Hanwood, Pontesbury and Minsterley. Continue on the A488. After approx 3.5 miles you will see a sign saying Hope. Turn right sign posted Bentlawnt. This is just after a tight bend and opposite a red painted brick cottage in the wooded valley. Go up the hill, passing the cemetery on the right, and at the crossroads turn left. Continue up the hill past some cottages and houses on the left, continuing straight ahead and uphill at all junctions. Immediately over the crest of the hill is the gate leading to the parking area. You will see the top of the cabin from the gateway. See picture below. Open the gate and drive in. Coming from Shrewsbury it is fair to say that we are beyond Hope and over the hill!
From the South (A49, Craven Arms direction): Heading North from Craven Arms, after about 1.5 miles turn left on the A489. After about 8miles turn right on to the A488. After about 6 miles, at a cross roads, turn left signed Hemford. Continue to a cross roads and turn right. Go up hill and straight over a second crossroads. Our house, ‘Hove To’ is then on the right and immediately after this is the gateway to the parking area. You will see the top of the cabin from the road. Open the gate and drive through to the parking area.
Local Area
The cabin is located on the western side of the Shropshire hills, previously classified as an area of outstanding natural beauty but more recently titled the Shropshire Hills National Landscape (but still just as beautiful!). Access to the cabin is from a quiet country lane popular with keen cyclists and horse riders. The eastern side of the Shropshire hills, including Church Stretton and Cardingmill valley are more popular with tourists and can be quite busy, especially in the summer months. However the western side is much quieter and just as beautiful!
The cabin is in a very peaceful location. There are no busy roads, built up areas or intensive farming. This makes it a great place for rest and meditation. However, for lovers of nature and fresh air there are walks that can be enjoyed straight from the door without the use of a car! These include valley, woodland and elevated heathland walks, all of which allow you to immerse yourself in the wonderful natural habitat. Going a little further afield you will find old towns and villages rich in history, stone circles, mining remains, and more beautiful walks and areas to explore.
The local villages offer several nice, atmospheric places to enjoy a meal or just a coffee and snack, whilst the towns of Shrewsbury and Welshpool offer a large range of shops and restaurants.
Details about local walks and places to visit can be found in the information folder in the cabin. And also do not hesitate to ask us if you are looking for specific information or recommendations.
